God is a giver, not a taker!

Image
"So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job  more  than his beginning..."  Job 42:12 Most of us have no doubt about God being the one who provides us all things. It is a settled thought that He is a giver, which is very true! The problem is that attached to this truth, a subtle thought was also taught us: that he is the one who TAKES things from us as well. This second thought couldn´t be further from the truth though! The story of Job shows us that God never took anything from him. It was not God who took his children´s life nor his wealth! At the very beginning of the story Job states this to his wife: "shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil" Job 2:10  But the previous chapter shows that God never sent any evil to attack Job´s life, it was Satan himself who destroyed everything Job had and not God, for the devil came "to kill, steal and destroy" (John 10:10).  Not wonder Job spends the re...

Guilty no more!

"Therefore, there is now no condemnation  for those who are in Christ Jesus"  Romans 8:1 It is interesting how it is easier to accept that we are not under condemnation anymore when it comes to things we did in the past. But we cannot lose sight that Jesus´ perfect sacrifice reaches our past, present and future. Just think that when He died and rose again none of us were born yet, and yet He forgave all of our sins, mistakes at the cross when none of them had happened already. Jesus wants us to be confident TODAY that there is no condemnation for something we may have done a minute ago. That is why Paul says there is NOW no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We are united with Jesus the very moment we first believed Him as our Savior onwards, and now nothing can ever separate us from Him. It is not like every time I do something wrong I will be separated from him and once I repent I am united to him again. No! Paul puts it this way in ...

Yes and Amen!!!

Image
For no matter how many promises God has made,  they are “Yes” in Christ.  And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us  to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 1:20 The word "promise" in the New Testment is the greek word  epaggelía. That  is a legal term that refers to an officially sanctioned oath. Whatever the Lord has said binds him to that word and to the fulfilled of it, that is why He made sure these words would be WRITTEN; it is just like a contract in the business world, which binds the parts involved and assures them of their rights and duties. Contracts are intented to BENEFIT both parts. We need to have in mind, though, that what we get back is always bigger than what we get to offer, that is how the business world runs and companies fight for big CONTRACTS.  The bible is filled with good things and promises God has made for his people. As we read the bible, we should take it personal, to get ahold of each statement ...

You are a Child of God!

Image
"So you are no longer a slave,  but God´s child; and since you are his child,  God has made you also an heir" Galatians 4:7 Every human being has born with this desire of being someone important, someone great, someone who is sincerely loved. We spend our lives doing things in order to achieve other things, or positions, that will satisfy such longing within. We desire to be a "great man/woman" in this world, in society, at our jobs, or even just in our class at school.  But the most significant position we can ever reach doesn´t depend on how hard I work. Have you ever asked God how He sees you? What does HE say you are or what are HIS THOUGHTS about you? I highly recommend you to ask Him this life-changing question! I assure you that you will hear the BEST things you ever heard, for HE FORMED AND CREATED YOU, and no matter how hard we "try" to mess up our lives, He will always have good thoughts and plans for us since we ...

Being Jesus´ partner!

Image
Looking at them, Jesus said,  “With people [as far as it depends on them] it is impossible,  but not with God;  for all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27 (AMP) When we look around we can see people willing to do ANYTHING in order to experience something that will impact their lives in a significant and permanent way. That is not something new in human race´s history. 2000 years ago there was a young man that approached Jesus with the question: "what must I -do- get eternal life"? We are taught that if we want something, we must DESERVE IT, we must DO something in order to GET something back. So when it comes to spiritual things, we tend to transfer such mindset to our relationship with God. Mind you, though, God is not like men, neither thinks like us! His thoughts are much higher than ours and he has such a giving heart that doesn´t give according to our worthiness or works.  Even in serving the Lord we tend to think that...

Don´t listen to them, just trust Jesus!

Image
Jesus overheard what they were talking about and said to the leader,  “Don’t listen to them; just trust me.”  Mark 5:36 These are the words of Jesus to a man called Jairus whose daughter was dead. Jairus came to Jesus to ask him to heal his daughter while she was still alive, but by the time they got back to his house people announced that she was dead, therefore there was no need to bother Jesus any further.  We should know that Jesus is deeply touched by things that matter to us!! He is never late and even when it seems like things got to its DEAD POINT, that there is no solution... Jesus is ALWAYS THE SOLUTION! There is nothing he can´t do, there is no situation he cannot change!  The world around us and even friends and family will try to tell us that THE GAME IS OVER, there is no HOPE. But JESUS HIMSELF IS OUR HOPE.  Sometimes the wisest thing to do is to be deaf to the world and what they say when their words don´...

DARE TO DREAM BIG!

Image
Then Joseph had another dream,  and he told it to his brothers:  “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars  were bowing down to me."  Genesis 37:9 Much of what we dream as we sleep results from our daily routine, thoughts and worries. But d reams can also be another form of heavenly language.  Dreams prepare our hearts to things that will come to pass in our future.  The bible is full of examples of people who were told about future situations through dreams as they slept.  Joseph, one of the sons of Jacob, at the age of 17 started having some dreams. The content of all those dreams were basically that he was in a position of authority- even over his own family. That was definitely something not reasonable to think of or likely to happen considering that he was the youngest in the family. Joseph became hated by his brothers and was called a "dreamer". But his dreams came from God and God doesn´t kn...

Focus on what you have in your hands!

"His divine power has given us everything we need  for a godly life trough our knowledge of him  who called us  by his own glory and goodness."  2 Peter 1:3 The bible tells us the story of how God delivered his people, Israel, from slavery in Egypt through a young guy called Moses. Moses had some traumatic experiences in Egypt that caused him to flee to a desert and dwell there for 40 years after killing an egyptian.  From the beginning of Moses life, God already had a plan for him! I mean, Moses was already IN God´s plans of deliverance for his people and the fact that Moses killed someone didn´t cause God to change his plans.  But as for Moses, he was the one hesitating to say a straight yes to God´s mission for him. Moses was primarily aware of his lacks instead of God´s provision. He would say that he wasn´t qualified for the "job" for he could not speak right, people would doubt he was commissioned for that, he wasn´t sure in ...

JESUS: what a powerful NAME!

Image
"Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him and gave him the name that is above every name :  that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth ..."  Philippians 2:9-10 The Reputation Institute (www.reputationinstitute.com) is responsible for the largest global study of corporate reputations. This study is released every year and its result is a list of the most reputable companies in the world. For instance, in 2016, the TOP 1 company in the globe was: Rolex. In 2015, BMW topped list. Ok, my point is: whenever we HEAR any of these NAMES, we KNOW that HIGH QUALITY is related to it. We KNOW that having any product made by these companies is a sign of STATUS, besides guaranteed SATISFACTION. The bible says that God has given his son Jesus A NAME that is ABOVE ALL NAMES. If we think highly of such natural human brands, how much high should we THINK about this name: JESUS.  If the NAME OF ...
