Got a weakness?

Image
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness... Romans 8:26 Every now and then there are situations that come along our lives that we feel like we have no power over them. Most of the time we see this fact as something negative, but God teaches us otherwise.  for “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13 It is that simple. "Jesus" is the Greek form of Joshua, which means "Yahweh saves" or "The Lord is salvation". We normally think of "being saved" when it comes to eternal damnation, but the original word used here is sozo, which means  "to be  delivered out of danger ( any danger) into safety; used principally of God rescuing from destruction ( any sort of it) into His provisions (divine safety). That means that Jesus is our savior also when it comes to feelings and mundane circumstances of life that -at that very moment- are stronger than us. He will save us in such ti

Each day counts...

What is your life?  You are a mist  that appears for a little while and then vanishes... James 4:14 We learn more at a funeral than at a feast (Ecc 7:2). Sooner or later we all will be no longer on earth and this thought makes me wonder if our every-day-life is being lived in a manner that we will look back and say: it was worthy it -each day!  Regardless of  beginning his public ministry, Jesus surely lived a life on earth with one thought in mind: each day counts ! Each day was valuable and profitable for living the life that God intended him to live.  It was not only about God blessing Jesus´ plans. We usually pray "Father, bless my ways" ... and He probably replies with a smile on his face: "Why don´t you leave your ways and walk on mine that are already blessed?" as He blinks ;) Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Fa

(...) they took knowledge of them,  that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13b There are people with whom it is so worthy spending time! The opposite can also be true though. But the truth is: we will never regret spending time with this one Great Friend who counted us to be WORTHY of him laying down his life for us.  No one has greater love [nor stronger commitment] than to lay down his own life for his friends. John 15:13 The disciples experienced the power of being with Jesus to the point of having their attitude changed from one extreme to another. Peter, for example, from being a fearful man before a maid at Jesus' arrest, became such a bold man before the authorities of Israel! Now when they saw the confidence and boldness  of  Peter and John, and perceived that  they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled.  Acts 4:13a There is a side effect of spending time with relevant people! As we spend time with Jesus, two things become

Does praying really make any difference in life?

"And whatever you ask for in prayer,  believing, you will receive." Matthew 21:22 We have always heard that prayer can change circumstances, but one can question: if God has all things preordained since the foundation of the world, then how can prayer change the course of things?  He went away a second time and prayed ,  “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” Matthew 26:42 Prayer can play at least 2 different roles. The first one is to prepare our hearts to face situations that we wish they were different. It is like when your heart is troubled about something and you talk about it with a good friend- after the talk the problem didn´t go away, but your heart is not as heavy as it was before that talk.  When Jesus was about to face the cross, he prayed and he even asked the Father to keep him from going through such suffering, but in the end his heart was conformed to the major

Going through the seasons of life...

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 It is not unusual that from times to times (from one year to another, from one month to another, etc.) we feel like that something has shifted in the atmosphere. We can tell things are not happening as smoothly as they were just a day ago. Yes, seasons change!  Likewise, we go through seasons in our lives. But that is not supposed to mean that it is a time when we will simply "survive" till the wheel goes round again.  “I the Lord do not change.  So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed."  Malachi 3:6 Even though seasons change, we need to remember ONE THING:  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Heb 13:8). He is the rock we are standing on. He is changeless and lives inside of us! It is not because it is winter that we need to be feel cold, since we have a "personal HEATER" inside of us! Jesus is the one who is able to k
