Yes and Amen!!!

For no matter how many promises God has made,
they are “Yes” in Christ.
And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us
to the glory of God.
2 Corinthians 1:20

The word "promise" in the New Testment is the greek word epaggelía. That is a legal term that refers to an officially sanctioned oath. Whatever the Lord has said binds him to that word and to the fulfilled of it, that is why He made sure these words would be WRITTEN; it is just like a contract in the business world, which binds the parts involved and assures them of their rights and duties. Contracts are intented to BENEFIT both parts. We need to have in mind, though, that what we get back is always bigger than what we get to offer, that is how the business world runs and companies fight for big CONTRACTS.

The bible is filled with good things and promises God has made for his people. As we read the bible, we should take it personal, to get ahold of each statement as something for OURSELVES and not as something separated from us, for someone else back in history.

No matter how many promises God has made, each one of them is addressed to us personally! Some of them may sound "too big", "too great" for us, but we shouldn´t expect anything different since all these words come from no one less than G O D - the GREAT "I am"!

So what is our role in getting all these good words fulfilled? First off, we need to acknowledge that each one of them belong to US, no matter how contrasting our reality may be. We may look at ourselves, at our attitudes, feelings, circumstances, and realize that we are not WORTHY of all these good words. Outside CHRIST, we are definitely not worthy of them. BUT that is why Paul said all these promises are YES in Christ. Jesus has made us worthy of all his good words and thoughts about us.

"He satisfies you with good things
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s." Psalm 103:5

Reading the bible can be boring when we read it as if it were a book about OTHER PEOPLE. But we are to interact with it! Read the bible knowing those promises are meant to be yours and be fulfilled in your life. Whenever you read a promise of God and wonder if THAT promise applies to you, hear Jesus saying YES, and with your mouth say AMEN, which means  "so let be it"

You already have an YES from God, your part in this contract is to receive his promise in your heart with an AMEN, for when JESUS says YES, nobody can say NO.
