God is a giver, not a taker!

"So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job
more than his beginning..."
Job 42:12

Most of us have no doubt about God being the one who provides us all things. It is a settled thought that He is a giver, which is very true! The problem is that attached to this truth, a subtle thought was also taught us: that he is the one who TAKES things from us as well. This second thought couldn´t be further from the truth though!

The story of Job shows us that God never took anything from him. It was not God who took his children´s life nor his wealth! At the very beginning of the story Job states this to his wife: "shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil" Job 2:10

But the previous chapter shows that God never sent any evil to attack Job´s life, it was Satan himself who destroyed everything Job had and not God, for the devil came "to kill, steal and destroy" (John 10:10).

Not wonder Job spends the rest of the chapters pondering with God why all those things happened, because deep within it made no sense that a GOOD, MERCIFUL, KIND GOD would be the author of all that mess in his life. And further on Job finds out that he was wrong about thinking that all that evil had come from God, therefore he states:

"Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know; (...) My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you." Job 42:3,5

When Job begins to SEE God has a GIVER and not a TAKER, acknowledging that he spoke things that were not according to the real character of God, the blessing of the Lord simply flows into his life in a much greater way than he ever experienced before!

"He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all —how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?" Rom 8:32

Graham Cooke says "What God wants from you, He plans to give you first; every command of God is preceded by a gift, a kind intention. God does not ask us to do anything that actually originates in us."

Therefore, look at Jesus as the source of everything you have and everything you desire. He is not a taker, he is a GIVER and He is WILLING to give us all things for the most precious thing He could ever give us he gave already...Jesus, His son!

He truly desires that we get to experience TODAY in our life a greater measure of his goodness as we begin to SEE him as a good, generous, kind God!

"I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD,  the God of Israel, who summons you by name." Isa 45:3
