The reward of trusting God...

And because the midwives feared God,
he gave them families of their own.
Exodus 1:21

Sometimes it seems like that the things we desire most are given to others and we are kept standing in line, waiting and waiting. It always seems like our neighbor has that which we wanted, that their lives are better than ours in this or that way. But we should keep in mind that those who wait upon the Lord and trust him will never be left out of His wonderful goodness!

The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
Lamentations 3:25

The book of Exodus tells us the story of two midwives employed by pharaoh to help women give birth to their babies. For what the bible says, it is likely that these women were single and didn´t have a family of their own yet. They were commanded by pharaoh to kill every male baby born from the hebrew women. But it is written that they FEARED GOD and didn´t not obey pharaoh.

The eye of the Lord is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy.
Psalm 33:18

When asked why the hebrew male babies were kept alive, they answered that hebrew women were quick to give birth and when they got there the babies were already born. We tend to think that they were lying to pharaoh but their statement is probably true. Those babies were under God´s very protection so it is very likely that God himself would cause those women to be quick to give birth to their children. God is the Lord over time and all of circumstances of life around us.

No one who hopes in you, Lord,
will ever be put to shame
Psalm 25:3

Because these midwives did not do evil but were an instrument of blessing towards the hebrew women, God himself rewarded them with the very same blessing with which they blessed those women! They helped them to have a family, trusting the Lord to keep their jobs and lives before pharaoh, and therefore God blessed them with families of their own!

"And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will
certainly not lose their reward.”
Matthew 10:42

God is a righteous God. He is never in debt with us. Plus: He will not only give us that which we deserve but He will go beyond that - that is what makes Him to be God! His heart is much kinder and generous than ours! God will always offer us the best He has in store regardless of how much we deserve it. No wonder He gave us Jesus to save us from hell and give us eternal life.

The fact that those midwives feared the Lord (honored, had reverence, trusted him) caused them to be blessed! Every time our hearts give God a place of honor and trust in things we do, He will honor us in return by trusting us greater things.

May the fear of the Lord abound in our hearts. It will cause us more good than we can ever fanthon! May this be our daily prayer.

By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.
Proverbs 22:4
