2018: A time for being renewed by the Creator!



 ...and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
Colossians 3:10

Happy 2018! I personally love cycles (days, weeks, months, years, birthdays). They are opportunities of having things made new. Even God works this way! The bible is full of cycles, times marked by feasts, dates, etc...  

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning...
Lamentations 3:22-23

Cycles are instruments of HOPE in our lives for no matter if we failed last year, or yesterday: every morning we should know that His mercies and love are renewed! Because of Jesus, God sees us as brand NEW every day! 

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
2 Corinthians 4:16

We all see things in our lives that we wish they were different. Sometimes we even wonder how could we be a new person in Christ if we still behave like our old self did (before we were born again in Him). The fact is, although we are a NEW CREATION in Christ, there is still another process of renewal going on in our lives right now! This process speaks of moving from one stage to a higher (more developed) one; being made qualitatively new!  

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; 
do you not perceive it?
Isaiah 43:19

Now the best part of this is: this upgrade doesn´t depend on our own effort! Year after year we make resolutions that never get past the first month because we rely on our own power. But creation cannot get better, be developed, unless the CREATOR does that! So this new year we should put all our expectations and hope in God to move in our behalf. He is the almighty one. Let us rely fully on Him to make all the improvements needed in our lives! He is faithful and He will accomplish His word!

To every thing there is a season,  and a time to every purpose under the heaven... Ecclesiastes 3:1  Nowadays one of people´s greatest excuses is: "I don´t have time". Taking delight in God´s will...

I often wondered why it seemed to be so hard for us to accept God´s will.  Thinking about this, two things come to my mind: 1) Most of the time we are convinced that our own plans are the BEST way to attain our goals, to reach that place of peace and happiness; 2) We are not aware of God´s LOVE and the fact that every bit of His will has its root in HIS DEEP LOVE towards us. We have been deceived by being led to think that God only displays his will in order to mess up with our own plans. Submitting to his will often sounds like we are being nulyfied; it is usually not taken as a reason for joy, but for sorrow. BUT all that is NOT even close to THE TRUTH about God´s will for our lives. Again: we must remember that ALL HIS WILL IS ROOTED IN HIS DEEP LOVE FOR US!... We are HIS CHILDREN and every good father´s will is to do ALL HE CAN in order to cause his child to live an ABUNDANT LIFE, to prosper in ALL their ways and to be HAPPY.  So everything starts with t

Being a living magnet: attracting good things...

Surely goodness and mercy  shall follow me all the days of my life...  Psalm 23:6 One of the greatest issues in our hearts is doubting. It is like we KNOW in a way that God is good and He blesses us in many ways but we usually see it as a matter of SEASONS. There are seasons when we are happy, healthy, blessed... others not so! and this causes us not to be so SURE that things will be alright all the time .  But king David, even after facing great hardships (riots, persecution, betrayals), he would NOURISH one THOUGHT in his heart: THE ASSURANCE that God´s goodness and love would follow him ALL THE DAYS of his life. The only weapon against doubt is assurance. So we can always fight doubts in our hearts by simply declaring "SURELY his goodness and mercy will follow me"... We also see the prophet Isaiah teaching us such truth concerning our health (physical and emotional):  -Surely- he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows... (Isaiah 53:4)
