God always exceeds all expectations

  ...what the righteous desire will be granted.
Proverbs 10:24

It is God´s good pleasure to show us more of his character in our every day life. There are two things about God that best define him: his goodness and his love.

I have loved you with an everlasting love;
    I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
Jeremiah 31:3

His kindness shows us his goodness and that causes him to see our hearts like no one else can or ever will. His pleasure is to see what is in our hearts and surprise us by giving us what we desire.

Take delight in the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4

But what is really amazing about God is that he is not limited to our expectations or desires.

The bible tells us that in Jerusalem at that time, there was a righteous man, Simeon, who lived in the prayerful expectancy of help for Israel. He desired to see the Messiah, the Savior, before he died. As the parents of the child Jesus brought him in the temple to carry out the rituals of the Law, guess who was there? Simeon! And guess WHO got to hold the Savior in his arms? Simeon!

 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God...
Luke 2:28

Simeon probably only wished he could get to "live" in the same time of history when the Savior came, or maybe to get to see him from a distance, like Zaccheus wished. But God orchestrated the whole thing so that he would get so much more than what he desired.

But someone may say: that only happened to Simeon because he was a holy man, who pleased God. We need to understand that God doesn´t bless us according to "our goodness" but according to HIS goodness! Zaccheus -a not so rightous man!- experienced the same goodness of God. He climbed a tree in order to TRY to see Jesus. But Jesus had much more in his mind to give Zaccheus - regardless of how wicked Zaccheus was (by stolling money from people). He not only got to see Jesus but Jesus himself went to Zaccheus´ house to dine with him.

There is so much more to happen in our lives than what we wish! Our mere desire to SEE Jesus will bring us much more than what we can ever dream! God always exceeds our expectations! Are you ready?
