Passover: moving towards a NEW TIME in our lives!

"It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord,
who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt
and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians." Exodus 12:27

The Jewish people spent around 430 years under slavery in Egypt. But God had better plans in mind for them, for He didn´t designed any of us to be bound (to anything!) - for even when we speak of our own relationship with God, he want no prisoners! He has designed each one of us to be loved and as we receive (perceive) this love we are able to love back.

We love him, because he first loved us.
1 John 4:19

In the Jewish calendar, April (the month of Nissan) is the first month of their year (Exodus 12:2). Therefore, Easter/Passover is a time of a new beginning for it celebrates a time free from bondage and a new time ahead towards experiencing all the goodness and the fulfillment of every good promise from God´s heart to his children.

Jesus is a picture of the lamb that was slain back in Egypt, whose blood was sprinkled on the doors of the Jewish families´ houses. That very blood was the guarantee that death would not reach them, although it would strike everyone else whose house was not covered by the blood.

The blood of Jesus, our Lamb, is our guarantee that things that reach the world will not reach our homes, our lives. Jesus not only died for us, but died as us, in our place, receiving the judgment we deserved so we can now live a life that displays the goodness of God. It doesn´t mean, for example, that we will never go through hardships or will ever get sick again, but the more we are aware of his goodness and love, we shall get sick less, and less, and less - for the blood of the Lamb will keep us from the evil that rules this world.

A thousand may fall at your side
And ten thousand at your right hand,
But danger will not come near you.
Psalm 91:7

The blood of Jesus has power indeed. It is our sure guarantee of a life of freedom from every sort of bondage (infirmity, financial or family crisis, anger, curses...) Therefore, let´s celebrate His Resurrection and all the benefits of it. He didn´t die and resurrected for us to keep the same ordinary life. There is much more in store for the children of God.

This is the real meaning of the holiday we just celebrated last weekend (Easter/Passover): a demonstration of His love towards us! It represents the beginning of a new time, free from every curse and condemnation - a time of peace for we are free indeed!

"Here is a trustworthy saying:
If we died with him,
we will also live with him."
2 Tim 2:11
