Thinking outside the box

 "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us." Rom 8:18



This weekend I heard an ilustration that really caused me to think. It talked about two babies in the womb of their mother discussing whether there would be "life after birth". Whereas one baby would say that there was nothing after birth, the other one would say that wonderful things - a whole new life- were ahead of them after birth: they would be able to walk with their own legs, feed themselves with their own hands, hug their mom, etc. 

Thinking about this ilustration, it occured to me that we could use the same thought pattern when it comes to ETERNITY. THIS earthly life is nothing but a SHORT preparation for GREATER THINGS THAT JESUS HAS FOR US in the time to come! Those 9 months in the womb is NOTHING compared to THE REST of their lives after birth. Likewise, our short earthly years (70,80 100 years) is nothing compared to ETERNITY. 

In Romans 8:18, apostle Paul considers this present earthly moment as a time of SUFFERING *WHEN COMPARED TO WHAT JESUS HAS FOR US*. It doesnt mean that we are on earth to suffer! NO!!! Jesus has come so that we may have LIFE and have it IN ABUNDANCE!!! We are called to REIGN in LIFE -in the present time!!! YET not even our BEST DAY on earth can EVEEEER be compared to what we will EXPERIENCE in eternity. We need to keep THIS in mind and nourish such EXPECTATION about that!

"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Cor 4:17,18 (NIV)

Eternity speaks of the rulership of Jesus and all the benefits of his KINGDOM OF LOVE. Mind you, we are not to experience it AFTER LIFE, we are supposed to START EXPERIENCING ALL THE BENEFITS OF THE NEW LIFE THAT JESUS CONQUERED FOR US ON THE CROSS -NOW-. The kingdom of God is not FAR from us, or something in another DIMENSION that is STILL TO come. It happens INSIDE of each one who believes that Jesus is the LORD and SAVIOR. 

"The kingdom of God cometh not with outward shew.(...) 
behold, the kingdom of God is within you" Luke 17:20,21 (NASB)


There is so much AHEAD of us, and we can start ENJOYING all the benefits of being  CHILD OF GOD even -NOW-. It is all AVAILABLE through FAITH IN JESUS and his FINISHED WORK at the cross!!

To every thing there is a season,  and a time to every purpose under the heaven... Ecclesiastes 3:1  Nowadays one of people´s greatest excuses is: "I don´t have time". But it really amazes me  how that Jesus seemed to have time to every little and big thing as he walked on earth! Taking delight in God´s will...

I often wondered why it seemed to be so hard for us to accept God´s will.  Thinking about this, two things come to my mind: 1) Most of the time we are convinced that our own plans are the BEST way to attain our goals, to reach that place of peace and happiness; 2) We are not aware of God´s LOVE and the fact that every bit of His will has its root in HIS DEEP LOVE towards us. We have been deceived by being led to think that God only displays his will in order to mess up with our own plans. Submitting to his will often sounds like we are being nulyfied; it is usually not taken as a reason for joy, but for sorrow. BUT all that is NOT even close to THE TRUTH about God´s will for our lives. Again: we must remember that ALL HIS WILL IS ROOTED IN HIS DEEP LOVE FOR US!... We are HIS CHILDREN and every good father´s will is to do ALL HE CAN in order to cause his child to live an ABUNDANT LIFE, to prosper in ALL their ways and to be HAPPY.  So everything starts with t

Being a living magnet: attracting good things...

Surely goodness and mercy  shall follow me all the days of my life...  Psalm 23:6 One of the greatest issues in our hearts is doubting. It is like we KNOW in a way that God is good and He blesses us in many ways but we usually see it as a matter of SEASONS. There are seasons when we are happy, healthy, blessed... others not so! and this causes us not to be so SURE that things will be alright all the time .  But king David, even after facing great hardships (riots, persecution, betrayals), he would NOURISH one THOUGHT in his heart: THE ASSURANCE that God´s goodness and love would follow him ALL THE DAYS of his life. The only weapon against doubt is assurance. So we can always fight doubts in our hearts by simply declaring "SURELY his goodness and mercy will follow me"... We also see the prophet Isaiah teaching us such truth concerning our health (physical and emotional):  -Surely- he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows... (Isaiah 53:4)
